چکیده
Sexual dimorphism is one of the most notable sources phenotypic variation in animals. The expression sexual traits varies widely for many species insects. In this study, we analyzed size and shape pronotum Turkish endemic species, Dorcadion micans J. Thomson, 1867 (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae). Our results have showed that there statistically significant pronotum. Males a longer sharper with smaller than females. Multivariate regression indicated has negligible influence on differentiation between sexes.

Sexual dimorphism in the subadult mandible: quantification using geometric morphometrics.
There have been numerous attempts, with varying degrees of success, to differentiate males from females on the basis of the immature skeleton. We investigate here whether the mandible can discriminate immature individuals by sex; the techniques we apply are from the field of geometric morphometrics. The application of these methods in forensic anthropology is still relatively new; thus, an impo...
متن کاملDorcadion axillare Küster, 1847 (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae): distribution, morphometrics, karyotype and description of a new subspecies from Romania
Dorcadion axillare Küster, 1847 is confirmed to be present in Romania more than one hundred years after the last published record. This species was mentioned in 1908 from several localities in SE Romania by A. L. Montandon, but this record was overlooked or misinterpreted by subsequent authors, the species being currently considered endemic for Bulgaria. Based on all published records, museum s...
متن کاملMultivariate and geometric morphometrics in the analysis of sexual dimorphism variation in Podarcis lizards.
Podarcis bocagei and P. carbonelli are two closely related lacertid species, very similar morphologically and ecologically. We investigated sexual dimorphism patterns presented by both species in allopatry and in sympatry. Sexual size and shape dimorphism patterns were analyzed using both multivariate and geometric morphometric techniques. Multivariate morphometrics revealed a marked sexual dim...
متن کاملLarva of Seticeros aquilus (Thomson) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Prioninae: Callipogonini).
The larva of Seticeros aquilus (Thomson), collected in Quercus humboldtii (Fagaceae) in Colombia, is described and illustrated. Biological notes and a comparison with the larva of Chorenta reticulata described by Duffy (1960) and with the descriptions of the other South American Callipogonini species are presented.
